Unique Fact

Bourgogne is a patchwork of small plots, known as “Climats”, each with recognized and identified qualities. A Climat is a specific piece of land with its own unique combination of physical characteristics, orientation, and geological structure, which, when combined with human know-how, gives rise to a unique wine, vinified separately. The Climats form the basis of the rich palette of aromas and flavors to be found in the region’s many wines. Built over two millennia of history, these Climats have given birth to a unique cultural site listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2015. The Climats, terroirs of the Bourgogne wine region, are part of a shared legacy, characterized by an exceptional heritage built around winegrowing, which has become the model for terroir-based viticulture in the eyes of the world.
